Review: The KAVAJ Leather Iphone 5 Case “Dallas”

Review Summary:

This is KAVAJ's answer to a simple wallet, and phone case in one. The case is made of 100% leather with a soft microfiber-like flannel liner, to protect from dust and scratches. Although the leather is nice, the case does have its shortcomings.

This is KAVAJ’s answer to a simple wallet, and phone case in one. The case is made of 100% leather with a soft microfiber-like flannel liner, to protect from dust and scratches. On the back of the case, there is a spot that holds 2 credit cards. The leather feels of high quality leather and has no visible blemishes. The power and volume buttons are covered; the mute switch is left un covered. On the bottom of the phone, there is a space for the headphone jack/speakers and the power port. The idea of the credit card or ID older on the case itself is a great idea. The screen cover can be used as a stand, then you can watch videos, which is nice.

Although the leather is nice, the case does have its shortcomings. For example, the screen cover makes it very odd to answer the phone, even more so for left handed individuals. Then you have the issue of what to do with the cover when your actually trying to use the phone. It feels out of place, and doesn’t lock back out of the way when your on the phone; while in a call, or texting.

The screen cover does not close all the way. The magnets don’t feel strong enough. If the case has been broken in, the issue would go away. The case it self covers everything but the corners of the phone. This leaves your phone vulnerable to being damage when dropped. On the top of the phone, the corners don’t protrude, but on the bottom they are flush. This seems like it would be a serious problem when accidentally dropping the device on the corners.

Overall the case itself is good if you want a leather iPhone 5 case that can hold a credit card and a ID. Perfect if your out on the town, or at a theme park. If you are looking for a fully protective case for your phone, you might want to look somewhere else. I give the case a 2.5 out of 5.
